Let grief find the freedom to be expressed. Let grief find the right to be understood.” - Kei Gilbert
We offer short term grief counseling to children and adults, couples and families. Our professional team includes counselors who specialize in grief, loss and transition, complementary therapists, counseling interns and fellows and trained volunteers. The goal of counseling is to help the client reduce feelings of distress, increase personal awareness and insight, manage anxiety and stress and explore coping strategies. Your counselor will meet with you privately, at either our Largo or Pasadena office at a mutually agreed upon time.
We also provide spiritual direction, for those wishing to explore their spirituality in greater depth. In monthly appointments a spiritual director (or companion) meets with individuals along their spiritual path. Clients are supported as they focus on spiritual practice and accessing deep inner wisdom to provide guidance as they move through their daily lives.
Counseling appointments are generally one hour. Hospice of the Chesapeake families may receive short term grief counseling (10 sessions) for up to 13 months after the death of a loved one at no charge.
We welcome community members seeking support, using a sliding scale fee for service. We are happy to provide you with an invoice to submit to your insurance or health savings plan, but we do not bill or participate with any insurance plans directly.
Chesapeake Life Center is not a crisis center and our phone is not staffed 24 hours a day.
